I grew up in LA during this time, and let me tell you it was an experience.  I saw the birth of New Wave, Punk Rock, the Crack epidemic, AIDS scare, Skating & Surfing was HUGE, and Gang Violence was everywhere.  Everyone was in some sort of gang.  There were Car Club Gangs, Breaking Gangs, Skater Gangs, Surf Gangs, Party Promoter Club Gangs, and of course our beloved Crips, Blood, and Mexican Gangs which took it to a whole new level.  All in all, it was a fun time, and I experienced a lot.  I moved to NY shortly thereafter and experienced another world.... House Music, Hip Hop, Electro (the REAL Electro), and the birth of the DJ as a superstar!  The reason I'm in this business.
